Polyisobutene (PIB) is a polymer made from isobutylene by cationic polymerization, and its molecular weight can range from hundreds to millions. It is a typical saturated linear polymer, the main body of the molecular chain does not contain double bonds, no long branches exist, and the structural unit is -(CH2-C(CH3)2)-.
Physical and chemical properties of Pib Polyisobutene
Polyisobutylene is a colorless, transparent or light yellow viscous liquid, non-toxic, odorless and non-irritating. Its physical and chemical properties are stable, and it has good thermal stability and storage stability. The specific gravity of polyisobutylene is 0.822 at 20°C, the refractive index is 1.457, the melting point does not exceed -50°C, the acid value and saponification value are low, and the iodine value is also low.
